Join us for our next book study as we revisit a Richard Rohr classic, "Falling Upward: A Spirituality for the Second Half of Life." We meet ONLINE on the first and third Sundays of the month from 3:00-4:30 pm eastern.

In Falling Upward, Fr. Richard Rohr seeks to help readers understand the tasks of the two halves of life and to show them that those who have fallen, failed, or "gone down" are the only ones who understand "up." Most of us tend to think of the second half of life as largely about getting old, dealing with health issues, and letting go of life, but the whole thesis of this book is exactly the opposite. What looks like falling down can largely be experienced as "falling upward." In fact, it is not a loss but somehow actually a gain, as we have all seen with elders who have come to their fullness.

With our contemplative study of Falling Upward beginning July 7th for 12 weeks, twice a month, you are invited to jump in and out as your schedule allows. And each time you will find an ONLINE warm and friendly community, open to exploring together the easy and more challenging concepts.

Our schedule for the first and third Sundays through December at 3 pm eastern:

  • July 7 = Invitation and Introduction
  • July 21 = Chapter 1: The Two Halves of Life
  • August 4 = Chapter 2: The Hero and Heroine's Journey
  • August 18 = Chapter 3: First Half of Life
  • September 1 = Chapter 4: The Tragic Sense of Life
  • September 15 = Chapter 5-6: Stumbling and Necessary Suffering
  • October 6 = Chapter 7-8: Homesickness and Amnesia
  • October 20 = Chapter 9: A Second Simplicity
  • November 3 = Chapter 10: A Bright Sadness
  • November 17 = Chapter 11: The Shadowlands

Our book study plan is to look at Breathing Underwater: Spirituality and the Twelve Steps beginning January 2025.
