Will artificial intelligence be used to build a world that protects human dignity or undermines it?

This is the central question Pope Leo XIV poses in his May 2026 encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas. Leo notes that artificial intelligence is neither a cure-all for humanity’s ills nor inherently evil. However, “technology is never neutral, because it takes on the characteristics of those who devise, finance, regulate and use it.”

We invite you to join us on Sunday, July 12th from 5:00-6:30 pm for a HYBRID presentation and review of Pope Leo's thoughts.

In Leo’s view, humanity therefore faces a pivotal choice between constructing a new Tower of Babel or working together in the presence of God to rebuild fraternal coexistence, on the pattern of the rebuilding of Jerusalem described in the Book of Nehemiah.

Leo develops a framework for discerning these choices, based on a Christian humanism grounded in the Catholic Church’s social teaching. At the core of this framework is the infinite dignity of every individual human person. Using this framework, Leo explores the dangers artificial intelligence may pose to the human person, and his vision for safeguarding against these dangers and promoting human flourishing.

You are welcome to participate in-person at Rolling Ridge or ONLINE.

Participants are encouraged, but not required, to read Magnifica Humanitas before the presentation.

Although there is no cost for registration, your donation to Rolling Ridge allows us to offer such opportunities that welcome everyone.
