I'm Looking for a Spiritual Directorwith Rolling Ridge staff
Julian of Norwich (1349-1415) was a profound thinker and the first woman to write a book in English. She lived through the worst pandemic in European history—the bubonic plague-- so she has much to teach us today as we live through the coronavirus. Instead of freaking out, she deepened her commitment to the creation spirituality lineage and insisted on the sacredness of nature and God-in-Nature and goodness as God. She developed a feminist theology 700 years before feminism. Her world-view is based on finding God as Mother in all elements of Divinity and in our own souls.
Her emphasis on non-dualism and blending of the sensual and spiritual deconstructs patriarchy altogether. She empowers us to stand up to the matricide, the killing of Mother Earth through climate change and the oppression of the divine feminine and of women and girls going on in the world today. She deconstructs the patriarchal mindset and reconstructs a healthy balance of the sacred masculine and divine feminine. We will explore and discuss some of her rich teachings.
“What Fox had done with Hildegard, Eckhart, and Aquinas makes him a major teacher and guide. Now, in our parallel time of pandemic, he does it again with Lady Julian of Norwich—as we all ask ‘What does it mean to love an believe now?’” --Richard Rohr, OFM Center for action and Contemplation
“I am grateful to the wise and joyous voice of Matthew Fox, who helps mystics like Julian of Norwich—and her sister mystic, Hildegard of Bingen—sing across the centuries and transfigure our hearts now, when we need them most.” --From the Foreward by Mirabai Starr
Fee: $20. Once you have registered, you will receive a coupon for $5 off Dr. Rev. Fox’s book for this retreat when you purchase it from his website.
