Divine Friendships: The Journey of the Mind to God by St. Bonaventure

Our series on Divine Friendships continues Monday, October 11th with the Journey of the Mind to God, written in Latin by Saint Bonaventure, an Italian born Franciscan scholar, while he was a professor at the University of Paris in 1259. The treatise follows a path laid forth by Saint Augustine in the Confessions, from observation of the external physical world to the internal world of the mind and then beyond the mind from the temporal to the eternal. Throughout this journey, the mind is aided by divine illumination until it culminates in a vision of loving and contemplating God through Christ, after the example of St. Francis of Assisi.

Alan Dillingham will facilitate the first part of this session by selecting a few key passages from the Journey of the Mind to God for the group to review, with commentary and background information on Saint Bonaventure and the text. The second part will be a period of reflective conversation by group participants.

Although there is no fee for this program, your generous donation to assist Rolling Ridge during COVID is greatly needed and appreciated. Thank you.
