Easter is the foundation of the Christian life. Yet the first witness to the resurrection was Mary Magdalene. She was an early church, who over time in church tradition was misunderstood and finally typecast.
In this Day Apart, Mary Magdalene will be our guide in exploring the experience of not being taken seriously. Through scripture, the arts and spurious, participants will be able to explore their own experience of not being taken seriously and what encourages them to stand by their own truth of resurrection life.

Paul Millin is an experienced spiritual director at Christ Church United in Lowell, who has led Day Apart retreats, including labyrinth walks, Celtic Christianity, and Julian of Norwich.
Ruth Richards has served ministerial positions at two Lowell churches, most recently as interim Minister of Christian Education and the Arts at Christ Church United. She is trained in spiritual direction, has led creative bible study, a writer’s retreat and took teen youth to volunteer at Pine Ridge Native American Reservation, South Dakota.
We have been intrigued and made curious by recent writings about Mary Magdalene, which inspired us to explore how she can relate to faith and life in a time of much institutional change.
