Program Details

As we continue our 2025-2026 theme of "Seeing Holy Presence," our Lenten series focuses on spiritual practices that help us nurture our relationship with God,

This Lenten season, join us on Ash Wednesday for our overnight Lenten Companioned Retreat and Taize Lenten Quiet Day on February 19th.

The focus of our Lenten Companioned Retreat is our one-day Taize Lenten Quiet Day on Thursday, February 19th, which is included in the Companioned Retreat registration. During the day retreat, music, silence, and scripture will create the framework for you to listen for God and to prepare your heart for Easter. During the silence, there will be time to interactively reflect on the Stations of the Cross, journal, and create, with coloring pages and mandalas to capture your reflections on the day. There will be time to explore the beautiful grounds of Rolling Ridge, to walk the labyrinth, and to sit by Lake Cochichewick.

For the Lenten Companioned Retreat, overnight options begin on Wednesday, February 18th and continue through Friday, February 20th with the opportunity to meet with a spiritual director on Wednesday and Friday. You can choose one night or two, one session of companioning or two. Select what works for you when you register. The hope is that meeting with a spiritual director on Wednesday will ready your soul for the Thursday Taize Lenten Quiet Day, so that on Friday you can process your experience with the same director as you journey to Easter.

There will always be much too much to do on your list. Lent marks a good time to go on retreat and to be companioned on the journey as you consider what it means to let go, to fast from the busy-ness, and to be present with the Creator of the world who sent Jesus to be our light and hope.

COSTS

For one night = $180 (3 meals and overnight in a private room including Taize Quiet Day programming, coffee service, and pastries. Optional spiritual direction add on is available.)

For two nights = $268 (6 meals and overnight in a private room including Taize Quiet Day programming, coffee service, and pastries. Optional spiritual direction add on is available.)

Spiritual Direction = $68 for one session or $125 for two. Overnight guests have the option to add one or more spiritual direction sessions to their stay. If you choose to add a spiritual direction session, we will connect you with one of our spiritual companions for a 45-minute direction session. Time to be arranged after registration.

Reiki = $50 for one or $90 for two. Overnight guests have the option to add one or more Reiki sessions to their stay. If you choose to add a Reiki session, we will connect you with our Reiki practioner for a 20-minute session. Time to be arranged after registration.

Dinner on Tuesday at 6:00 pm

Breakfast on Wednesday at 8:00 am

Taize Lenten Quiet Day begins Wednesday at 9:30 am

Depart by 4:00 pm on Wednesday (unless second night option is added)

For the Wednesday overnight retreat:

Arrival by 9:30 am for Taize Lenten Quiet Day

Dinner on Wednesday at 6:00 pm

Breakfast on Thursday at 8:00 am

Meeting with spiritual director TBA (optional, add during registration)

Depart by 12:00 pm on Thursday

About the Leaders

Larry Jay

As the Executive Director of Rolling Ridge, Rev. Dr. Lawrence Jay works in partnership with the staff to ensure that the guest experience at the Ridge is top quality. He also partners with retreat leaders to provide excellent programming at the Ridge, and is available to speak about the ongoing ministry and historic mission of Rolling Ridge as a place of rest, retreat, and transformation. A trained spiritual director and ordained American Baptist pastor, Larry (as he is known by friends) is a graduate of UCLA, Golden Gate Seminary, Franciscan School of Theology, American Baptist Seminary of the West, and the Gateways to God Missional Spiritual Direction Program. He is also Adjunct Faculty at Merrimack College in the Masters of Spirituality and Spiritual Direction programs. Eco-spirituality is his passion (and was his doctoral dissertation), encouraging everyone to live into the fullness of our connection with our True Self, nature, God, and all people.
