19 Annotation Retreat
The Spiritual Exercises of
Ignatius of Loyola

Ignatius of Loyola (1491-1556, co-founder of the Jesuits) believed that God loves us without condition, and deeply desires a personal relationship with each of us through Christ.  Based on his own experience, he developed a series of Spiritual Exercises, the goal of which is to develop or deepen that relationship.

The Spiritual Exercises of Ignatius Loyola have been a spiritual resource for Christians for centuries.  The exercises were originally intended to be used over a thirty day period and were so used by the Society of Jesus (also known as The Jesuits, a religious order founded by Ignatius) from its inception.   However, Ignatius realized that not everyone could set aside thirty days to engage the exercises.  Early on, he developed a way that the average Christian could undertake the exercises within the context of their daily life.  This approach is known as the 19th annotation.

Rolling Ridge is offering a 19th Annotation Retreat as an opportunity to engage the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises over a period of six months in the context of your daily life.   During this pandemic the retreat will be offered virtually.   The various exercises and prayer experiences will be broken down week by week and emailed to participants by the retreat director.   There will be monthly group direction meetings via Zoom to process your experience through the exercises.   Each participant will also have email access to the director to help with questions or concerns.  If you have always wanted to experience the Ignatian Exercises this is your opportunity to do so from the comfort and safety of your own home and on your own schedule.
