CULINARY SERVICES MANAGER

Job Title: MANAGER OF CULINARY SERVICES
Classification: Permanent Full-Time
Reports to: Guest Services Director


Position Purpose:
The Manager of Culinary Services directs the food service operation of the retreat center including menu creation, personnel management, maintaining kitchen & equipment, ordering food & supplies, food preparation, and working within a budget.


Essential Job Functions:
1. Manage daily operations of the retreat center food and dining services
 Oversee the planning & preparation of appealing and nutritionally balanced meals and snacks
 Create menus based on dietary needs of the group
 Ensure the service of meals through directing the work of other employees
 Ensure safe & efficient preparation and serving of meals
 Attend weekly BEO meetings
 Train Kitchen Assistants and Cooks in proper kitchen procedures
2. Oversee the inventory & ordering of food, equipment, and supplies and arrange for the routine maintenance, sanitation and upkeep of the kitchen, its equipment, and facilities.
 Order food and kitchen supplies consistent with menus and guest counts
 Maintain inventory of food and kitchen supplies
 Maintain high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and safety
 Clean and maintain all food-service areas, including kitchen, dining hall, storage, and kitchen recycling
 Inspect equipment and ensure equipment is repaired as necessary
 Promote practices that seek to reduce food waste and reuse leftovers
 Manage all administrative and human resource functions for kitchen employees
 Monitor employee performance and training
 Interview and hire cooks and all kitchen staff
 Plan, coordinate, schedule, and supervise the work of other food service staff
Qualifications:
 Ability to thrive in a United Methodist organization and a setting that embraces diverse
faith beliefs
 Ability to budget, control, analyze, and project costs and savings
 Ability to safely and properly use kitchen equipment
 Experience in large food service setting preferred
 Experience in scheduling and supervision of kitchen staff
 Knowledge of current health and safety laws and practices
 Expertise in Vegan, Gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian, and other alternative dietary concerns
 Food Service training, ServSafe management, CPR, and allergen awareness certificates
 Ability to provide first aid and to assist staff in an emergency
 Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing in English
 Ability to move 50 pounds

GUEST SERVICES RESERVATIONS MANAGER

Classification: Permanent Full-Time

Reports to: Director of Guest Services (primary) and Director of Operations (secondary)

Position Purpose: The Guest Services Reservations Manager is responsible for personal contact with potential and future guest group leaders providing them with information, overseeing all details of a booking, and following up with full payment for the event and potential rebooking. This full-time position becomes the "first impression" of Rolling Ridge with the qualified candidate possessing the skills to be people-focused, detail oriented, and financially-organized.

CULINARY TEAM MEMBER

Classification: Permanent Part-Time

Reports to: Culinary Services Manager (primary) and Director of Guest Services (secondary)

Position Purpose: The right candidate for this position has knowledge of the hospitality industry with a strong desire to utilize those skills in an environment that is unique and unlike the industry. They must be able to sustain a one-person kitchen, including dishwashing (when the number of guests is low) with a positive attitude and a willing spirit. Qualified candidates must be able to prepare buffet-style meals from scratch in the lakeside gallery dining room for 10-70 people. HOUSEKEEPER

Classification: Permanent Part-Time

Reports to: Housekeeping Manager (primary) and Director of Guest Services (secondary)

Position Purpose: The Housekeeper assists the Housekeeping Manager in attending to the interior of the Rolling Ridge facilities, creating a clean and orderly environment for guests with integrity and attention to detail. Employment at Rolling Ridge offers a unique level of ministry to its guests that are rarely found in today’s workforce; seeking to transform lives by connecting all people, God, and creation, at the 38 acres of beauty along the shore of Lake Cochichewick and the early 1900’s mansion that is Rolling Ridge.
