About the leader(s)

Andrea Bliss-Lerman

Andrea Bliss-Lerman is a graduate of Shalem Institute of Spiritual Formation and has been active in facilitating and teaching in the Gateways to God Spiritual Direction Training Program at Rolling Ridge, as well as being involved in Days Apart, Drawing Nearer to God, and individual and group spiritual direction. She has served as the Minister of Spiritual Direction at Free Christian Church in Andover, Massachusetts since 1990. In addition to teaching in a variety of spiritual direction training programs and leading numerous retreats and workshops, she has also served in reaching out to inner city youth and young adults through skateboarding events, writing projects, and community development.

Beth Garnaas-Holmes

Rev. Beth Garnaas-Holmes is an Elder in the United Methodist Church.  As a pastor of congregations in Montana and New Hampshire, she developed ministries of spiritual formation within her congregations to encourage people of all ages to deepen their spiritual lives.  Her early formation came through the Lutheran tradition, and its liturgies and songs have shaped her soul.  She received her Master of Divinity degree from the Pacific School of Religion, and a Certificate of Completion in the Shalem Institute's Spiritual Direction training program.  She also completed the Upper Room's Academy for Spiritual Formation.  She has been a spiritual director for 25 years.

She works with Rolling Ridge as the director of Gateways to God: Training in Missional Spiritual Direction and Congregational Formation.  She is also a supervisor in Gateways and with the Insight Spiritual Direction Supervision program. She still teaches piano, and has done so even longer than she's been a pastor.   She lives in Acton, MA with her husband, Steve Garnaas-Holmes.  Her 3 sons, their partners and her three grandchildren light up her life, as do quilting, listening to and making music, and walking in beautiful places.  Her passion is to help people trust in their belovedness and to listen for the footsteps of the Holy in their lives.
